DATE: Art Nouveau, c.1900

An interesting ring I must say... This French made antique ring is crafted entirely in 18k gold, and is modelled as an x-rated scene featuring a number of people "in the act"- we all know the term but I'm not going to mention it. The three outstretched figures make up the entire band, and its made to fit a US 7 size finger. Dates to the Art Nouveau era, circa 1900. 

An exact match of this ring can be found in the British museum, however it has not been linked to a specific maker. Very similar designs by François-Rupert Carabin can be seen in the Musée d’Orsay. Carabin (1862-1932) was a brilliant sculptor and jeweller, and he based his work upon the celebration of natural bodily forms. His work was a true representation of the Art Nouveau style.
